Bihar polls begins under Tight Security

Voting for first phase of the state assembly polls began in the 57 assembly constituencies of twelve districts amid heavy security at 7.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Official sources said that at least 90,000 law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the districts of Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, Gaya, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad, Nawada, Banka and Jamui. The state police has also sealed Bihar’s borders with neighbouring states connected to these districts and constituencies.

The security and police personnel include 605 companies of paramilitary forces, guarding the 13,338 polling booths, Air Force choppers also have been deployed for aerial petrolling, to ensure smooth, free and fair elections in the state.
