New Delhi has warned Canberra the lucrative Indian education market could be at risk if Australia doesn’t do its utmost to ensure the safety of students from the sub-continent.
India has conveyed to Australia its “deep anguish” over a recent spate of attacks on its students, warning growth in the education sector could be jeopardised if nothing is done to stop the violence.
Education-related travel is Australia’s biggest service export to India, valued at $2 billion in 2007/08, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.more
